1k 10k 100 ohm resistor color code - 3 and 4 Band

We know, resistor is a electrical material which opposes the flow of current in a electrical system. It is generally represented by R and measured in Ohm  ( Ω ). There are different types of it which have different values maybe fixed or variable. For fixed value, we need to used some methods like color coding, straight numerical value etc. Here we will discuss about resistor of different color code such as :- 10k resistor color code || 1k resistor color code or 1k ohm resistor color code || 100 ohm resistor color codeFor these, we have different types of bands in it such as 4 bands, 5 bands and 6 bands. What do you think about these band? These bands means total number of color in it which is coated in circular form. Hence, 4 band means 4 types of color on it, 5 bands means five types of color on it and 6 bands means 6 types of color.

It may be difficult to determine from where resistor color will measured or take? For these types of problem, we need to take a note for that. That's its tail or end point will be with gold, silver or no color coated so from take color from where there is other color expect gold, silver or no color. After that it will be easy to know the value of resistance.

4 Band 10k 1k 100 ohm resistor color code

1. For 10k ohm resistor

For 4 band, we have formula for color code calculation that is given below.

    R = AB X 10C ± D%

A and B are digits, they will not multiply, just simple replace with digits.
For 10k ohm, we need it with Brown - Black - Orange - Gold.

Now let calculate it for verification,

color code for Brown = 1 (First digit)
 for Black = 0 (Second digit)
 for orange = 3 (Multiplier)
 for gold = 5 (Tolerance)

    R = 10 x 103 ± 5%
        = 10000 Î© ± 5%
        = 10k with 5% tolerance level
Which means, resistance of this may vary from 9500 to 10500  Î© (ohm).

We need to remember the color code for it, after that it will be much more easier to calculate. The figure for it is given below:-

2. For 1k ohm resistor

We know the formula for calculation for color code already i.e.  R = AB X 10C ± D%

For 1k ohm, we need it with Brown - Black - Red - Gold.

Let's calculate for its verification,

color code for Brown = 1 (First digit)
                 for Black = 0 (Second digit)
                 for Red = 2 (Multiplier)
                for gold = 5 (Tolerance)

    R = 10 x 102 ± 5%
        = 1000 Î© ± 5%
        = 1k with 5% tolerance level
Which means, the resistance of this may vary from 950 to 1050 Î© (ohm).
The figure for this is given as:-

3. For 100 ohm resistor

For 100 ohm, we need it with Brown - Black - Brown - Gold.

Let's calculate for its verification,

color code for Brown = 1 (First digit)
                  for Black = 0 (Second digit)
                  for Brown =  1(Multiplier)
                  for gold = 5 (Tolerance)

    R = 10 x 101 ± 5%
        = 100 Î© ± 5%
        = 100 with 5% tolerance level
Which means, the resistance of this may vary from 95 to 105 Î© (ohm).
The figure for this is given as:-

5 Band 10k 1k 100 ohm resistor color code

1. For 10k ohm resistor

For 5 band, we have formula for calculation which is given as below.

    R = ABC x 10D ± E%

A, B and C are digits, they will not multiply but just simple replace with digits in the formula.

For 10k ohm, we need it with Brown - Black - Black - Red - Gold.

Now let calculate it for verification,

color code for Brown = 1 (First digit)
 for Black = 0 (Second digit)
 for Black = 0 (Third digit)
 for orange = 2 (Multiplier)
 for gold = 5 (Tolerance)

    R = 100 x 102 ± 5%
        = 10000 Î© ± 5%
        = 10k with 5% tolerance level
Which also means the resistance of this may vary from 9500 to 10500  Î© (ohm).
The figure for this is given as:-

2. For 1k ohm resistor

For 1k ohm, we need it with Brown - Black - Black - Brown - Gold.

Let's calculate for its verification,

color code for Brown = 1 (First digit)
 for Black = 0 (Second digit)
 for Black = 0 (Third digit)
 for Brown = 2 (Multiplier)
 for gold = 5 (Tolerance)

    R = 100 x 101 ± 5%
        = 1000 Î© ± 5%
        = 1k with 5% tolerance level
It means that the resistance of that may vary from 950 to 1050 Î© (ohm).
The figure for this is given as:-
1k resistor color code

3. For 100 ohm resistor

For 100 ohm, we need it with Brown - Black - Black - Black - Gold.

Let's calculate for its verification,

color code for Brown = 1 (First digit)
 for Black = 0 (Second digit)
 for Black = 0 (Third digit)
 for Black =  0(Multiplier)
 for gold = 5 (Tolerance)

    R = 100 x 100 ± 5%
        = 100 Î© ± 5%
        = 100 with 5% tolerance level
It also means that the resistance of it may vary from 95 to 105 Î© (ohm).
The figure for this is given as:-

On conclusion, These values can be easily calculated after known the color code table for resistor. You can calculate any resistor color code by using our resistor color code calculator. List these resistor color code in table according to their band (i.e. 4 band resistor and 5 band resistor) as shown below.
